Soccer - the beautiful game

Who makes the rules? The official soccer rules are called the "Laws of the Game" and are revised annually (usually in July) by FIFA, the world soccer governing body, but youth organizations usually adjust the rules to fit children. Typical adjustments are field sizes, game lengths, number of players per team, the number and frequency of substitutions, "offside" is sometimes not called, and slide tackling is sometimes not allowed. Field sizes, ball sizes, length of games & rules vary by age group. Football tickets contd.

For more information about the history of the game and how to play, go to:FIFA - the official website. www.fifa.com

English soccer

The FA Premier League (often referred to as the Barclays Premiership for sponsorship reasons) comprises the top 20 football clubs in the league system of English football. It was created in 1992 when the teams of the old First Division of The Football League withdrew to capitalise on their elite status and maximise their revenue. The Premier League comes under the jurisdiction of The Football Association. Football tickets contd.

How to get tickets for Premiership team games

Almost without exception, you will need to register for membership on the individual club's official website. In most cases, each club issues a number of season tickets for home matches, but you may have to wait years to get one of those !

If you are an official club member, you can secure away match football tickets and tickets to other non premiership games through most of their websites. However, it is not always possible to buy on-line and you may need to phone into a hotline number. Another way to get football tickets is to use a ticket broker and be prepared to pay a little extra !
